BILL CALLAHAN appears to have dropped the Smog moniker and released a single as himself (as if Smog Wasn't himself!). Diamond Dancer is out on Drag City this week on CD only. I like ole Bill.... took me about 6 albums to warm to him but his voice does things for me now (not those kind of things). I'm not sure why exactly why he's dropped the ole Smog name for this release?? I guess it's a bit poppier than other Smog releases but his voice is so distinctive it'll always be Smog. Now he's singing about some lady who lady who dances so hard she dances into a diamond. Actually on 2nd listen it's revealing itself to be a great tune. Cheap 'n all!TRACKLISTING:

BILL CALLAHAN IS THE MAN WHO USED TO RECORD UNDER THE NAME SMOG. HE CUT AN ALBUM WITH NEIL MICHAEL HAGERTY CO-PRODUCING AND ARRANGING ALL THE SONGS LAST NOVEMBER. BILL DECIDED TO GIVE PEOPLE A HEAD’S UP AND A TASTE OF WHAT’S TO COME BY RELEASING A SINGLE FROM THE ALBUM WITH AN EXCLUSIVE B-SIDE
THAT COMES FROM THE SAME SESSIONS BUT WON’T BE ON THE ALBUM.
