Les Savy Fav - Accidental Deaths

Accidental Deaths by Les Savy Fav

After 1 year in the making Rococo Records brings to you the new Les Savy Fav - Accidental Deaths 7".. This was previously available as a Limited CD for their Aussie Tour back in November 2004.. Features two songs that are exclusive to this record...Hit by a Car b/w Hit By a Train The first verse of "Hit by Car", the A-side from Les Savy Fav's latest 7-inch, is an uncanny Pixies impression, all single bass notes, skeletal drums, and brief scrapes of guitar, over which frontman Tim Harrington calmly sing-speaks a few thoughts on the car that (you guessed it) hit the song's narrator. On any other Savy Fav song, this would all be buildup for an imminent freak-out; instead, the rhythm section falls back and a few clean guitar notes emerge, while Harrington voice gets quieter, even plaintive. When the band returns, it's to lend steady support to a minimal melody. There is one catchy guitar line here, appearing only in the song's finale as an unassuming coda instead of the song's anchor. This is a reserved, mid-tempo meditation on crossing over, not the post-rock fury you'd expect given the title and the Les Savy Fav legacy. If this is what the band meant when they said their next compilation will be "pretty," then expect Les Savy Fav to be just as competent at laying back as they are at raising hell.
