Jesu - Sun Down/ Sunrise

Sun Down/ Sunrise by Jesu

Justin Broadrick has been virtually single-handedly responsible for pioneering three different genres of music:
grindcore with Napalm Death (at the tender age of 15), industrial metal (with Godflesh at the slightly more sensible age of 19) and dark ambient/isolationism with Final and Ice, as well as collaborating with Kevin Martin on the
groundbreaking Techno Animal project fusing speaker destroying bass dread to industrial weight paranoia.
Which brings us to Justin’s latest incarnation Jesu... Never one to rest on previous innovations, Justin has been forging ahead once again, marrying his trademark bass-heavy riffs with an almost early Ride-ish pop sensibility creating anthems of melancholic euphoria.
The ‘Sundown/Sunrise’ EP picks up where 2006’s ‘Silver’ EP left off, this time taking two songs and stretching them out over 35 minutes, mixing the bittersweeet melody with huge swathes of oceanic drone and minimilist electronica - this is by far the most accomplished and ambitious that Jesu have sounded to date.
Hydra Head release the second Jesu full length in the first part of 2007.
Beautiful packaging from acclaimed artist Seldon Hunt.
Limited edition of 1000 copies on heavyweight vinyl.
Justin Broadrick was recently invited to join SUNN0))) as a collaborator on their recent UK and Ireland Tour

Tracklist:
