Capdown - Surviving The Death of A Genre

Surviving The Death of A Genre by Capdown

3...according to our on Fri 23 Feb, 2007.

Emo pop-tastic now from CAPDOWN with Surviving The Death Of A Genre. Mmmmm what to say... phil says its not bad for the genre. Not sure about the references but sounds a bit like Green Day and bands like that. Hey B-side's a Ska style cover version of Kelis with Trick Me with some dudes rapping over it. Pretty party party!!!

LABEL: FIERCE PANDA
TRACKLISTING:
A ‘SURVIVING THE DEATH OF A GENRE
B ‘TRICK ME’

**INFAMOUS MILTON KEYNES FIVEPIECE CAPDOWN SOMERSAULT BACK INTO BLIGHTY'S RECORD MARKETPLACE IN EARLY 2007 WITH THEIR FIRST ALBUM RELEASE FOR MANY LIGHT YEARS, ‘WIND-UP TOYS’. NARY THREE WINDY WEEKS LATER WILL SEE THE RELEASE OF A NEW SINGLE, 'SURVIVING THE DEATH OF A GENRE', THE SECOND PHYSICAL RELEASE TO BE TAKEN FROM THE MOTHER ALBUM FOLLOWING LAST YEAR'S TASTER 'KEEPING UP APPEARANCES'.
** LIKE MUCH OF 'WIND-UP TOYS' 'SURVIVING THE DEATH OF A GENRE' CAPTURES A NEW MUSCULAR MODERNISED CAPDOWN - THE TITLE ITSELF MAY WELL BE A GENTLY MOCKING NOD TOWARDS THE CULTURAL SHIFTS WHICH HAVE OCCURED IN THE FIVE YEARS IT HAS TAKEN THE BAND TO GET AROUND TO RELEASING THEIR THIRD ALBUM BUT THERE'S NO DENYING THAT WHILE THEIR IS STILL A SKANKING SPARKLE TO THEIR SET CAPDOWN HAVE MOVED ONWARDS AND UPWARDS FROM THEIR SKAPUNK ROOTS. PROVING THAT THE BOYS HAVE THEIR FUNNY BONES IN THE RIGHT PLACE 'SURVIVING THE DEATH OF A GENRE' IS BACKED BY A SUITABLY CAPDOWNESQUE COVER VERSION OF 'TRICK ME' BY KELIS.
** BUT IT ISN'T ALL COMIC CAPERS: WITH THE CLOSEKNIT LINE-UP OF JAKE (VOX / SAX), BOOB (BASS), KEITH (GUITAR / VOX) AND TIM (DRUMS) NOW JOINED BY NEWCOMER EDDIE (KEYBOARDS / SAMPLES) ‘WIND-UP TOYS’ FINDS CAPDOWN IN FEROCIOUS MODE AS THEY SEEK TO BUILD ON THE SORT OF DEVOTED FANBASE WHICH SAW THEM DRAW THE BIGGEST CROWD TO THE LOCKUP TENT AT READING 2006 - MANY MANY MOONS SINCE THEY'D RELEASED A RECORD. THEY'VE BEEN THROUGH THICK, THIN AND EVEN THINNER BUT 'SURVIVING THE DEATH OF A GENRE' UNDOUBTEDLY PROVES THAT CAPDOWN ARE MEATIER AND MORE MANIC THAN EVER. BUT DON'T TAKE OUR WORD FOR IT - GET YOUR MOSHING SOCKS ON HERE, HERE AND HERE...
