Thousand & Bramier - The Sway of Beasts

The Sway of Beasts by Thousand & Bramier

Thousand & Bramier next then. A CD called 'The Sway Of Beasts' is upon us through French label Arbouse (Are those cross channel pals of ours trying to swamp Blighty with music in an effort to distract us from our boys world cup hopes??? CONSPIRACY ALERT!!!!) This is really well constructed, loose & soulful alt country / downtempo acoustic introversion with a serious nod to Will Oldham. I'm not exactly a world authority on this kind of music but these chaps seem to really have what it takes without a doubt. You could add this gorgeously packaged thing to the new Smog EP maybe.

Apart from the current tendencies, Thousand & Bramier beat in brêche all the prejudices and want to be the perfect illustrator of what could be a music halfway between Folk and Country. Their music as of the first listening surprises by its control and its smoothness. Their voices and their sound reveal an artistic maturity to cut the breath. It acts as of a succession of trott melancholic persons in the vein of Johnny Cash, Lee Hazlewood or more recently Howe Gelb with Arizona Amp and Alternator, with the same suggestion of the immense and wild landscapes, of the same atmospheres of the smoked out and alcoholized places.
