What the label says:

Usher the computer age into your own home with the ZX Spectrum Orchestra ,explore the programming/mathematical/musical mysteries of their debut album,Basic Programming. In 1982,myopic visionary and entrepreneur Sir Clive Sinclair released his most successful product –the Sinclair ZX Spectrum home computer.Little did he calculate that over twenty years later, two of his devotees would endeavour to create electronic music utilising its most fundamental sound generating processes. The beeptastic results found on Basic Programming exist in superposition somewhere between maths and disco, and it is a work full of geek pride and dedication. For two years Clive One and Clive Two of the ZX Spectrum Orchestra have been locked away in the lab writing code. They use no midi,no samplers,in fact,no instruments other than Sinclair hardware and peripheral devices. For instance, vocals on tracks are supplied by the Currah µSpeech. An early speech synthesizer built for the ZX Spectrum,it explores the found poetry of basic keyboard commands. When not con . ned to the lab,the ZX Spectrum Orchestra have given live performances including Birmingham ’s Supersonic festival,Neen Day in London and at Network, Aalst,Belgium. ‘Look and Listen ’,an animation by the ZX Spectrum Orchestra, has been shown as part of the Optronica festival in London,Paris,Cologne, and San Francisco. Clive One aka Brian Duffy is an award winning sound artist,NESTA fellow, and creator of the Modified Toy Orchestra . Clive Two aka Mike Johnston is also a member of the Modified Toy Orchestra & Plone

About the humble CD:

The CD is essentially a small portable face mirror which has an extra feature of being able to play music (through a thing known as a CD player). These CD's are a modern invention hence them being all shiny and digital. They can hold about 80 minutes of music and apparently are indestructible as you can smear jam on them and they still play (not as nourishing as toast mind you but when you're hungry.....). They sound crystal clear and are tiny convenient things. They lack the charm and warmth of their old analogue counterparts but their portability, convenience and ease of being duplicated make them a perfect thing of a thing for most folks. Jewel cases are the worst thing ever though and they really need to stop.
