METRIC release their 3rd (I think) single on Drowned In Sound called Empty. I've heard the previous 2 singles by these folks but I can't remember what they sound like. Mind you I can't remember what I had for tea last night so there's not much hope for me at all.... 'Shake Your Head It's Empty' is quite an apt lyric in my case.... And oft does it repeat in this bizarrely structured indie opus. It's a total schizo basket case of a tune with a slight Police thing going on with the guitars...... then it kicks in with the 'Shake Your Head It's Empty' lyric accompanied by some very Pixies style guitars/ Kim Deal esque style vocals.... and then quiet is goes again.... It's really good actually.... Surprised I was. Yes. I never thought a song would have elements of Pixies and The Police in. Way cool...To coincide with their nationwide tour with Bloc Party, Canada’s finest release one of the highlights of their 2006 album ‘Live It Out’. Fresh from their double success in the NME’s Top 50 Albums Of The Year (‘Live It Out’ made #38), Top 50 Tracks Of The Year (‘Monster Hospital’ just missed the Top Ten at #12 ), and after reaching #5 in MTV2’s Top Ten Tracks Of The Year, Metric are pleased to announce that they will be releasing a third single from their ‘Live It Out’ album.
