Finally from me check out the Ellis Island Sound album on Peacefrog called The Good Seed. This is cracking gear!! You'll be familiar with a number of quality releases the 'Sound' have had on Static Caravan and now they've gone all big and grown up releasing full lengthers on massive labels like Peacefrog. Having said they didn't they have a comp out on Heavenly or summat? You think I'd remember eh?? This is beautiful timeless sounding instrumental music to have a song and a dance to when you've got the family over. There's some delightful lilting tunes... some ukelele, strings a plenty all cleverly thrown over some wafting beats.... All very soundtracky indeed. Another great album. Loads of 'em this week!!Ellis Island Sound are Pete Astor and David Sheppard who also record as Wisdom Of Harry, State River Widening, The Loft and Phelan Sheppard amongst others. ‘The Good Seed’ will appeal to fans of The Penguin Café Orchestra, Faust, Boards Of Canada, Harmonia and Wim Wender’s 70’s film soundtracks. Sometimes a change is as good as a rest. So it proved for Ellis Island Sound’s Pete Astor and David Sheppard, whose records have generally been cooked up in London Town, slotted in amid a mass of life commitments and innumerable, intertwining creative projects. This time the duo determined to change the environment, turning their back on the capital and heading out to the country to cut what would become ‘The Good Seed’ - the first full album proper from a combo whose almost decade-long existence has played out across a miscellany of EPs, mini albums and singles. One listen to a clutch of rough mixes was all it took to have Peacefrog (home of Jose Gonzalez and Nouvelle Vague) proffering contracts.
