What we say

Rating: unmoved This record left our Ant feeling unmoved.

As always we like to review a cross-section of what's out each week so yes it's time for MUMM-RA unfortunately not the evil baddie from Thunder Cats. 'What Would Steve Do?' has that warm, (yes I know they're from Iceland) dreamy Sigur Ros thing going on but lacks the level of depth and emotion you get from them. Basically a lot more commercial sounding, miserable type stuff which comes on both orange vinyl  7" with a Floorboard Mix (?) and numbered yellow vinyl  7" in gatefold sleeve with 'Cute As' on the B-side. If  I was Steve I'd throw them in a skip (just kidding).

What the label says:

MUMM-RA What Would Steve Do ? Both vinyl formats are ltd & numbered. One is yellow in a gatefold sleeve & the other is orange & fits into gatefold sleeve. Maxi Cd has video & exclusive content. Playing the NME BRAT's tour in Feb/Mar.

About the humble 7":

The humble 7" is the smallest of the vinyl formats (not including the ridiculous 5") and it's the perfect medium for transporting a couple of new songs by up and coming bands straight into your ears. They're fun and they take up less space in your house than something bigger would. They come in a plethora of exciting colours and fantastical packages, and you can fit about 14 minutes onto one 7". You may have to get up every few minutes to put a new record on but think of the exercise. Don't forget every record you buy plays at least 2 speeds (depending on your stereo) and you need to play all records on all speeds to get the maximum joy from your purchase.
