High Priest - Born Identity

Born Identity by High Priest

High Priest's music digs new alien tunnels you have to explore yourself, fusing hip hop, dub, musique-concrete and avant lyricism. If Sun Ra had an SP-1200, he might have sounded like this. And if circuits are digital roots, then technology meets its maker here. Priest isn’t missing old teammates as his flow takes on a legion of voices, all speaking to what goes on now in a big way. He earned his rep as a hyper-creative, omnivorous producer and rapper with fabled trio Antipop Consortium, who dissolved after the commercial and critical success of their 2 LPs on Warp. HP remains visible as an artist out to impress in his own right, and with the Airborn Audio project with fellow APC lyricist M. Sayyid now fading in the distance, he's fathered this first solo album for Sound-Ink. A guest list including underground MC L.I.F.E. Long, Tunde and Jaleel from TV On The Radio, and Hisham Bharoocha (ex-Black Dice) tells you what you should already be guessing : expect all the things you don't.
