What we say

Rating: unmoved This record left our Ant feeling unmoved.

SUBURBAN KIDS WITH BIBLICAL NAMES are currently playing. Man this guy sounds like he's got it bad. 'Marry Me' is a proper mushy love song. It's a great feeling being in love and I suppose you cant blame him for wanting to shout it from the roof tops but it's not all roses as clearly the women he's in love with wont marry him. It's an honest, humble tune with lyrics like 'Put a deposit on a nice little flat' and 'Any ole chance I'll get I'm gonna buy you stuff''. Too desperate dude, you're coming across too easy. Play hard to get, pretend you don't care, make her want you .Not something I'd choose to listen to but I'm sure someone will. The flipside is a more cheery, chirpy Divine Comedy style cut. Again he's on about love being on his mind all the time. Poor fellow. Clearly the sensitive type that sounds like good husband material. Although he could turn out to be a stalking serial killer. You just can't tell these days. Ltd and numbered of 300 purple vinyl 7" thingie.

What the label says:

As anyone who has tried to put together a Valentine’s Day set knows, the ratio of very shit love songs to very good love songs is horrendously high. To address this imbalance, Sweden’s Suburban Kids With Biblical Names offer up ‘Marry Me’, a love song guaranteed to melt even the most jaded and cynical of hearts, just in time for Valentine’s Day. The Kids inject their own soulful twist into the genre, with an ecclectic arsenal of handclaps, mandolin, oohs, aahs and flapping beats. Subtle, sincere, and irrepressibly joyful, if you’re looking for a soundtrack to a real romance, get this... “Any old chance I’ll get, I’m gonna marry you, Get my act together and star in school, Put a deposit on a nice little flat Get my finances together and show where it’s at.” ‘Marry Me’ is taken from Suburban Kids With Biblical Names’ debut album #3. Previously only available on import, #3 will be released in April on yesboyicecream records.

About the humble 7":

The humble 7" is the smallest of the vinyl formats (not including the ridiculous 5") and it's the perfect medium for transporting a couple of new songs by up and coming bands straight into your ears. They're fun and they take up less space in your house than something bigger would. They come in a plethora of exciting colours and fantastical packages, and you can fit about 14 minutes onto one 7". You may have to get up every few minutes to put a new record on but think of the exercise. Don't forget every record you buy plays at least 2 speeds (depending on your stereo) and you need to play all records on all speeds to get the maximum joy from your purchase.
