Simple Kid - Lil King Kong

Lil King Kong by Simple Kid

4...according to our on Fri 02 Feb, 2007.

Now SIMPLE KID with his new single Lil' King Kong on Country Gentleman recordings. After a lengthy absence from the music pages "the kid" is back. With the banjo plucking away at the back bone and keeping us bobbing along. There's a definite Beck reference point with the drum beats and slide guitar and his playing harks of Americana and country styles. He's not shy of a chorus either with the a big distorted wall of noise crashing with a wall of harmonies. Always nice to hear banjo and harmonica driving a song and creating the staccato rhythms. B side is a simpler song about Elton John?? and hides in the shadows in the size King Kong.

Second single taken from ‘SK2’, which was one of Mojo magazines’ top 50 albums of 2006.
