Get While The Getting's Good by Various

Aufgeladen und Bereit have put together this collection of songs and music by 19 diverse Scottish artists, showing just how rich and vibrant the contemporary scottish music scene is. The title borrowed from EDWYN COLLINS composition of the late ORANGE JUICE era, gives you an idea of the musical references and the inspiration for this album. 19 tracks, 75 minutes of musical brilliance, some of the featured artists have never released a single song, some have a whole musical career in their pocket. This compilation gives you an idea how the “SOUND OF YOUNG SCOTLAND” sounds these days. Punk laureate JOCK SCOT`S collaboration with POP GROUP guitarist GARATH SAGER kicks off the proceedings and warns us of the perils of drinking alcohol in foreign shores. Followed by a smooth metronomic jazz title from the BURT /  MACDONALD  QUINTETT. Be now prepared for some classic Scottish Pop Moments. WAKE THE PRESIDENT surely own a copy of AZTEC CAMERA`S  ”High Land Hard Rain” and BRICOLAGE have prominent fans in FRANZ FERDINAND and are announced as the next big thing from Scotland. TIBI LUBIN combines the great early 80ties pop heroes MARINE GIRLS and YOUNG MARBLE GIANTS. Heart melting , honey combed tracks will follow by THE STATE BROADCASTERS and CAMERA OBSCURA who have lately had huge success with their new album “Lets Get Out Of This Country”. The second part comes up with some experimental and modern sounds. KID TWIST provides a instrumental with some spacey noises, while FOUND from Edinburgh mix CAN like sounds with SYD BARRET vocals. The mysterious AUTOMATIONS & THE ONS do it in the digital way and surely you will tap your feet to this great track. The young and refreshing POP UP take you back to some guitar works and sound like THE LA`S having a session with JONATHAN RICHMAN (the singer even looks like him). Imagine a compromised LOU BARLOW taking on a darker, more thoughtful TEENAGE FANCLUB and you know how ENDOR sounds like. ST DELUXE let PAVEMENT style guitars collide with blurred electronics. Horns please for the next section with THE PENDULUMS, METRO -GNOMES and SAY JANSFIELD. If HARVEST RECORDS were still operational then the following three would be their shining stars. Bizarre moments with humour are offered by THE PENDULUMS their horns and acoustic guitars invite you to a space ride. The Girl–Boy Duo THE METRO-GNOMES try to bring you down to the floor with wonderful vocals and guitar picking, while SAY JANSFIELD singing about “A Sad Past” with BEACH BOYS harmonies. The last three songs will surely make appetite for more. The SECRET GOLDFISH do a cover version by the mighty VIC GODARD with great ORANGE JUICE guitars. DOWN THE TINY STEPS with acoustic instruments and some weird beats are hard to describe which makes them even better. THE FUTURE PILOT AKA leads the album towards the end with a wonderful instrumental country pop song.
