Slipstream - A.E.I.O.U. (Lost For Words)

I was putting some stock onto the database yesterday when infront of me was the sleeve for SLIPSTREAM's 'A.E.I.O.U (Lost For Words)'. It's absolutely fantastic (the sleeve) being one of those super trippy pictures by Akiyoshi Kitaoka that looks like its moving. The music is proper horrendous though . It really is beyond cheese. It's bad commercial dance music with guitars that brings to mind the likes of Apollo 440. The sleeve is well worth framing though. It'll make you think you've been spiked with acid. Man.

‘A.E.I.O.U. (Lost For Words)’ is the mesmerising new single from Slipstream – a monumentally catchy and fresh track, blending shimmering guitars and an apocalyptic bass groove with a killer hook.  The CD release is backed with an equally strong track, the sensually touching ‘When The Summers Gone’, and a thumping club remix of ‘A.E.I.O.U. (Lost For Words)’ by DJ Pedro Gonzales for Twisted Funk. A limited DJ 12” on Enraptured’s sister label, Endorphin Records, will feature the club mix, a dub mix and the original version. The music is complimented to great effect by the hypnotic optical illusion sleeve art, 'The Time Tunnel Show', created by Akiyoshi Kitaoka and specially licensed from Kanzen. Slipstream is the melody-thrilled project of Mark Refoy (guitar/ vocals) and Johnny Mattock (keyboards/ drums), both hailing from Northampton, England. Refoy and Mattock started out as members of the legendary space-rock bands, Spacemen 3 and Spiritualized. Refoy also played guitar with the Pet Shop Boys on their last world tour and featured on their ‘Disco 3’ album. Signed to Che Records as Slipstream in 1994, they produced a string of singles and three albums. In 2003, Slipstream released the magnificent ‘Transcendental’ album on Enraptured Records, a kaleidoscopic love symphony from beyond the stars. The opening track, ‘Everything and Anything’, featuring in the Johnny Vegas BBC hit comedy ‘Ideal’ – even seeing Vegas singing along to it!
