In My Room - Saturday Saturn

Saturday Saturn by In My Room

4...according to our on Fri 05 Jan, 2007.

I'm pondering over this CD by IN MY ROOM who have that Hood/Notwist electro boffin folk thang down to a tea. You know, brittle, meandering guitar minimalism, pulsing, gltchy electronics & melancholy atmospherics. There's also hints of Tunng & Four Tet here & there. Oh & Yuppie Flu.

In My Room was born in Parma at the end of 2002 as a solo project of Marco Monica: acoustic guitar, violin, glockenspiel are moulded over minimalistic electronic texures close to dream pop, at the crosspoint between song structures and avantgarde, rhythmical patterns and quiet melancholy. The first cdr "Three Good News in October" is released by Matteo Casari's Marsiglia Records, attracting rave reviews. The songs are performed live tks to the help of three friends, who became an integral part of the line up, now featuring: Marco Monica - voice, acoustic guitar, computers; Emanuele Missorini - electric guitar, bass; Deborah Penzo - violin; Agnese Roda - voice.
Saturday Saturn, their first album, out on Suiteside in May 2005, has been completely recorded at Marco's home, but it sounds nevertherless magically crafted, perfectly texturing voices and instruments, and the acoustic with the electronic side. The ideal comrades in the magical paintings of IMR could be the likes of Tarwater, Fennesz, The Books, even if the quartet reveal a character of its own, expecially in the timbre solutions and in the shapes of the delicate vocal melodies.
