What we say

Rating: ecstatic This record left our Brian feeling ecstatic.

TETSU INOUE arrives next on Infraction, possibly one of the worlds finest contemporary ambient electronics labels. We've had superb releases in the past year by Milieu & Beautumn & now Tetsu's 'World Receiver' hits Norman records in the face with it's 10 year anniversary re-issue. This is the marriage of field recordings & deep analogue ambience & honestly, this is classic stuff. Proper mind expanding headphone symphonies from the outer realms of the galaxy. Imagine floating over grand glaciers in a hot air balloon pumping this from a ghetto blaster. A lot of today's practitioners such as Pan American I can see being inspired by these delicate sounds & minimal atmospherics. A subtle orbiting sphere of soothing music I wanna take home & be absorbed in. Lovely gear.....

What the label says:

Nothing less than an ambient classic! World Receiver has been out of print for far too long. A damn near perfect blend of environmental recordings from literally all over the world with Inoue's nuanced atmospheres surrounding them. This will be an edition of 800 copies, featuring a 6 panel digipak. This is not remastered, retouched or remixed. It is superb as is, it needed no updating - only to be available again.

About the humble CD:

The CD is essentially a small portable face mirror which has an extra feature of being able to play music (through a thing known as a CD player). These CD's are a modern invention hence them being all shiny and digital. They can hold about 80 minutes of music and apparently are indestructible as you can smear jam on them and they still play (not as nourishing as toast mind you but when you're hungry.....). They sound crystal clear and are tiny convenient things. They lack the charm and warmth of their old analogue counterparts but their portability, convenience and ease of being duplicated make them a perfect thing of a thing for most folks. Jewel cases are the worst thing ever though and they really need to stop.
