Luke Toms then. Not to be confused with your uncle who has the cabin. oh no.... This one is some new chap being hunted by record labels so I'm told. They'll tell you anything to sell records these days. Seriously. next they'll be saying this is actually worth some of the hype and you should buy it. Actually they'd be right!! Bouncy piano led 60's style tomsfoolery. It's all over the place with orchestra stabs, catchy bits here, even more catchy bits there..... The violins really remind me of ELO which is funny cos I was told it sounded a bit like The Beatles who you should well know are the band The Beatles could be..... Those swirly violins are just like Mr Blue Sky..... Some of the Left Banke in there., perhaps some Beach Boys.... perhaps a more contemporary comparison would be Jim Noir. Fools With money is really very good indeed! On this debut EP his unique, passionate, soul-tinged voice rails at the inherent divviness of a friend’s taste in rich men on Fools With Money or quivers at a more idealised vision of romance in the deep emotional well of You Get Me There. The Tom Waitsian Hangover Blues succinctly sums up the morning after the night before in a boozy, dirty blues fashion. Finally the rousingly anthemic (Oh No) You Can’t Do That is filled with melodic complexity and raw pop emotion of a long lost Sgt Pepper session. In all a beautiful, touching and simply superlative EP. A super start to an incredible career. Catch Luke live when he tours with The Feeling and then with Mika. All formats in Special Packaging
