THE EARLIES next. I think i'm getting their buzz now. Maybe just receptive to their blend of subtle yet powerful electronics, folk, psychedelic & country tinged tunes. Their's is a very polished, rich sound that blends trad shapes with stunning production to deliver an earthy, honest update on Americana tinged rock. I think they do err slightly on the studiously clever at times (remember, I love The Fall & no-one else) but there's a rich, original furrow being plowed here. I think they'll appeal to the Flaming Lips/Secret Machines contingent with 'The Enemy Chorus', a very full sounding, genre defying album. It's got stunning artwork, very futuristic yet this big music is in touch with it's roots. Think I need to investigate further! There's a limited 2 track sampler style 10" to go with the CD only long player. The Earlies return with a new album "The Enemy Chorus", due for release on 29th January 2007.
