Little Barrie - Love You

Love You by Little Barrie

4...according to our on Thu 11 Jan, 2007.

LITTLE BARRIE is some funk dude on Genuine Records. Only on his new single Love You he seems to have dropped the funk and gone for an early 60's pop motif. I can't help feeling that if Jamiroquai was any good he'd make records like this. Quite bouncy sounding fun pop tune which doesn't fit in with any current trends. An enormous bonus in my book.

First single from Little Barrie’s brand new second album ‘Stand Your Ground’ is a crackling rock’n’roller with more twists and turns than Gene Vincent in a hot rod.   ·A restless confession of desire, ‘Love You’ digs in its elbows and pushes its way to the front. With skiffling drums, a popping bassline and a crackling lead guitar, it’s indicative of the more urgent rockabilly blues featured on the band’s forthcoming new album ‘Stand Your Ground’.    ·It’s a sound made all the more vital for the renewed strength of frontman Barrie Cadogan’s songwriting. CD B side ‘If I Don’t Have To Answer’ encapsulates a theme of defiance and resistance running through their new material. The demo version for ‘I Wonder Whether’ – unavailable elsewhere – is also included on the CD while the 7” has a different B side  ‘Yeah We Know’.
