Now I have PAGAN WANDERER LU with his new ep ' The Independent Scutineer' out on Brainlove records. It's a mix of guitar and 8 bit casio style electronic sounds. Its carefully selected sounds hide behind songwriting that ranges from pretty cool to very poor. Think of the film Grease (Ant says Pipettes) and no matter how much he roughs it up with scratches and glitches its still got the same shit underneath. First and 4th song ain't bad...... he's been playing with Jamie T and the like so might be worth a bet. Oh okokok its not bad actually... been waiting for it to finish for ages and now on the last track its got quite an innocence that has charmed me. I remember his split with Napoleon 3rd (who recorded this) and it sounds a bit like him.6 wonderful songs from the seemingly neverending mine of tunes at PWL's disposal. From the mournful echo and rousing refrain of 'The Memorial Hall' to the wiry guitar of 'Our New Hospital Sucks' and the twinkling omnichord sounds of closer 'Knight > King 4', this is an EP to remember form a brilliant emerging songwriter.
