Again on Brainlove records I have a split by THE APPLICANTS and OPEN MUTANTS a rock and roll affair. Notice on the cover they're got the worst make up job ever. Looks like its been done by a drunk. Sounds like a lot it was a lot of fun to make but singing about "crappucino" by the Applicants is a teeth smirk but nothing more and by the end of it you want to see him drinking his invention. Danny Danny by the Open Mouths is as more of the same. Limited 7" What the label says: New hyper-fun pop trackz from these two firm Brainlove favourites, as seen on last year's UK label tour. The Mouths' "Danny Danny" has buzzsaw new wave guitars and a razor sharp hook, while Applicants are found gleefully destroying rock 'n' roll on "Filthy" and "Crappuccino". About the humble 7":

The humble 7" is the smallest of the vinyl formats (not including the ridiculous 5") and it's the perfect medium for transporting a couple of new songs by up and coming bands straight into your ears. They're fun and they take up less space in your house than something bigger would. They come in a plethora of exciting colours and fantastical packages, and you can fit about 14 minutes onto one 7". You may have to get up every few minutes to put a new record on but think of the exercise. Don't forget every record you buy plays at least 2 speeds (depending on your stereo) and you need to play all records on all speeds to get the maximum joy from your purchase.
