With one of the most talked about records of 2006, Ben Drew’s debut
album on 679 Recordings ‘Who Needs Actions When You Got Words’
single-handedly shifted the sands of hip hop with its bleak and honest
lyrical sideswipes and radio-friendly pop hooks. The Album has now sold
over 40,000 units and with a new single coming early 2007 and a sold
out UK tour the Plan B is still very much in effect. This 12" is
strictly for the clubs as four hot young things have been given the
opportunity to add their weight to Drew’s work. Kiss Fm DJ and Basement
Jazz and Switch Cohort - Sinden Remixes the killer Paul Epworth
collaboration ‘More Is Enough’, upping the tempo into a more DJ
friendly cut and injecting enough filth to keep the B’Mores and b-boys
happy. Hot Chip go all spacey on the title track, offering a rattling
style clash with Ben’s flow and smooth chorus. Mixologist and Plan B DJ
Beni G comes correct along with the Brookes Brothers (whose ‘Mistakes’
is one of the underground tracks of the year) for a killer jungle
remake of the album’s lairiest moment No More Eatin’. Hadouken! - With
over 95000 plays of "That Boy That Girl" on their my space they are one
of the hottest bands of the moment thanks to some cuttingly
tongue-in-cheeky grime-ations and vital word of mouth gigs.
