Blotnik Brothers - Mizuage

Mizuage by Blotnik Brothers

Starting out in 2000, this Swedish neo-electro trio quickly won support from Dave Clarke, Billy Nasty and Freddy Fresh, and have been recording for Satamile since 2004. The Blotnik’s music crosses many electronic paths, rooted in diverse sources from 70s synth funk to hip hop electro, to the Detroit school of Aux 88, Dan Bell and Daft Punk; the influence on them of pioneers such as Kraftwerk, Herbie Hancock and Afrika Bambaataa is clear, although the large and beat-heavy sound they have constructed from these ideas is one of their own making. This long-gestated debut LP is 8 new tracks (11 on CD) of uncompromising electro clarity and distinction, blazing a path into the future with old skool, nu skool, floor burning electro-breaks tunes. With excellent production throughout, Blotnik Brothers rock blocks even harder than the Chemicals, and the album ploughs forward like an unrelenting freight train, with atmospheric interludes included to add to the dynamic of the record as a full length experience instead of just another batch of stand-alone club tracks – ‘Mizauge’ is pounding electro sub-bass for getting down, where EBM and acid techno converge. ”Blotnik Brothers haul techno funk into this century” (XLR8R).
