Bluesky Research - Fittest of The Fittest

Fittest of The Fittest by Bluesky Research

Another 7" on Regal from BLUESKY RESEARCH entitled 'Fittest Of The Fittest'. It's meat and potatoes gear this. Safe, over polished. How can you polish something so much and still make it dull? It defy's the laws of modern science. This sounds like a really lame cross between Jane's Addiction and Oasis but lacks the power and energy of either. B-side ' Good Fight' does little in the way of exciting me. There are some horns thrown in there and it reminds me of 'California Dreaming' by Mama's and Papa's only not anywhere near as good.

The third single from the Regal Singles Club is the double AA side "Fittest Of The Fittest" / "Good Fight" by Bluesky Research. Both tracks were produced by Greg Haver (Manic Street Preachers, Super Furry Animals) and Charlie Waddington from the band. Taking their cue from seminal artists such as Love and Neil Young, older indie outfits like Ride and contemporaries such as Grandaddy and Shack, Bluesky Research are purveyors of timeless, magisterial folk-rock music. The excellence of the band has caught the attention of their peers - they've toured with Ian Brown, Echo & The Bunnymen, and Pure Reason Revolution. Ian Brown in particular is a huge fan of the band and has collaborated with Waddington, who wrote the track "Forever And A Day" for Brown's last studio album "Solarized". Bluesky Research have created their own scene in their hometown, Portsmouth, where they play, DJ and promote two other bands at their monthly Research night at The Lounge in Southsea, which sells out to 300 punters every month.
