Next up is the latest single on Mike Skinner's The Beats label and is from EXAMPLE who I've never heard of. It's half decent dark underground UK hip-hop as far as the production and beats go. Some cool strings in there and the rapping aint half bad either but I find with a lot of this stuff the chorus just lets it down and seems like it's been thrown in there for commercial appeal. Flip side track 'The Sell Out' is the winner for me with it's elastic wobbly digital bass line. His rhyming skills are showcased to the full with killa rhyme 'Licking her ass hole' rhymed with "Pass the Parcel'. How clever is that? Naughty but nice. Head straight for the flip and get yer ass grindin'. This surprisingly fresh Ltd 7" comes in red PVC sleeve.

Starting out as a garage MC to make some money while at university in London, Example met aspiring producer Rusher where the duo made a concept album in the Film Departments audio booth. Mike Skinner (The Streets) later heard him and was in touch before long, signing the extrovert MC to his fledgling label. Examples first track for The Beats is What We Made, a song about mankinds seemingly never-ending desire to self-destruct. Whilst the song has obvious undertones of the Human Races experimentation with bomb-making and the obsession with a particular nations neighbouring country, at no point in the song is the finger of responsibility pointed at any particular nation or religion. Example simply assumes the role of a diplomat offering a history lesson that can be understood from every side of the warring world.
