Dexateens - Teenager

Teenager by Dexateens

Teenager is the first U.K release for The Dexateens following their two albums for the Estrus label. It is their unreleased debut album that the band recorded in the Spring of 2000 in 2 days flat, and as such laid down the foundations of what was to come with The Dexateens and 2005s Red Dust Rising. lFrom Tuscaloosa, Alabama, home to pine trees and red dirt country, the core of the band consists of Elliott McPherson (vocals/gtr), John Smith (gtrs), Matt Patton (bass) and Sweetdog (drums). This album finds them at their most primal Motorhead meets manic Southern-fried rock, and reminds us of our old favourites The Oblivians. Recorded in Water Valley, Mississipi with Fat Possum producer, Bruce Watson, it was mixed 6 years later (!) by Lynn Bridges who worked on the the two Estrus albums, and mastered by Rodney Mills. Rodney was the engineer on Lynyrd Skynyrds Street Survivors which when you hear this album is entirely appropriate. As Elliott says "Using him to complete the project really brought it full circle for us". This is raw n rowdy porch blues at its finest reflecting "the young mans South". Press is being handled by Coalition and reviews are already confirmed in Mojo, Uncut, Q and NME.
