I don't think I've done anyone on Latitudes before, though I've always admired them from afar. That sounds well dodgy doesn't it. It's their usual 'edition of 1000' thing but if I'm not mistaken this Circle one ushers in a new age with its soundless second picture disc.. And to think I was cheeking off Underground Railroad for wasting resources. Tyrant isn't by the jazz ensemble, it's by the other one - those Finnish Krautrock-worhipping nutters. Psyching out on a bassy repetitive dervish on the first side (complete with Goblin-esque horror vocals) before calming things down a notch on the second, which sounds like the demon rape scene in Rosemary's Baby, this is a top notch bit of mentalism from start to Finnish. Ahaha. Oh look I was wrong and I look stupid, one side of the picture disc isn't blank at all and has an even more sedate bit of trippiness on it. Lovely!Latest in the ultra-limited Latitudes series. 200 only, will sell out fast! Circle are Finland’s premiere psychoactive export. Working deep in the forests of their homeland they forge a potent mix of New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, Krautrock and Finnish experimentalism; no single genre can contain their awesome power! Guitar, bass and keyboards twist and curl like smoke against the pounding rhythmic propulsion of the drums, vocals veering from a hysterical Rob Halford-esque staccato wail to a discombobulated murmur. Tyrant’ sees the band in tranced-out, metallic shoegaze territory, blast beats clash with Krautrock rhythms, disembodied screams pierce the murk as time slips beautifully away…
