REIGNS 7" is pretty. Really pretty. Doesn't say what speed it is so I'll have to do it at 33. 'Frozen acid' is spectral mid tempo stuff that reminds me of acts such as FortDax or Tomcats in Tokyo. A slowed down vocal interrupts a beautiful rhythmical track, harnessing the chasm between glacial electronic synth frequencies, chiming folk guitars & spacious blunted beats. It sounds like it's been pinched from Static Caravan 3 years ago, that good!!! 'The Blank Tape' sounds like U2 dabbling in post rock textures hahaha. Like Bono Mahonie hahaha. This is shitting limited, 300 copies in a stamped sleeve. We've just cleared the distro out so DON'T DELAY ON THIS!!First in a series of recordings, taken from inside stone circles. The Reigns operatives, having only just released their second album ‘Styne Vallis’, are back already. This 7" is Ltd to 200 and it comes with a illustrated book of explanatory notes describing the recording sessions near the village of Abbotshorpe. Throughout 2007 there will be more releases in the series. The album (released 06/11/06) is the story of a submerged village in Wessex, Steve Lamacq has been playing it, Organ says it’s one of the vital must hear releases of 2006. Reigns are the absolute antithesis of traditional easy listening, yet passages of 'Styne Vallis' are satisfyingly relaxing: the album's core is one of otherworldly beauty, it's just the surrounding adornments that are formed of clotted blood and splintered bone. Rocksound. The tracks on this 7" aren’t available anywhere else.
