Chuffing hell I'm liking everything today!!! (could it be that Phil's away and I'm choosing my own stuff) Next up is the new single from MY LUMINARIES. Not a bad Magpie job with bits nicked from all over. Bit of COLDPLAY, bit of MANIC STREET PREACHERS, bit of tinsel, bit of fluff. The single's called 'Jumping the great White' and they describe themselves as "a bit like the Kaiser chiefs with better lyrics and more depths" which is great fighting talk!!! 7" on Gronland...It’s like The Arcade Fire inspired by a series of weddings or Pavement on amphetamines. NME. My Luminaries manage to mesh a bundle of charm and spirit into cut throat anthems expertly highlighted on this their debut single. Extensive touring and particularly recent support shows with The Delays, Infadels and Badly Drawn Boy have seen the band building a dutiful following. As a result the new year will see the band fast anchoring themselves to that rare fleet of seminal British Guitar Bands. My Luminaries will be supporting Radio 4 on their forthcoming UK Tour, then embarking on their own headline dates at the end of November.
