I Was A Cub Scout - Pink Squares

Pink Squares by I Was A Cub Scout

4...according to our on Thu 23 Nov, 2006.

Another bunch of future pop cancers on Abeano are I WAS A CUB SCOUT. This is epic stuff that breaks down in he middle to sound EXACTLY like the bloody POSTAL SERVICE. It has those trance like synth washes going through it that make me think of Vangelis/JM.Jarre whilst taking in a smooth, widescreen production that doesn't manage to disguise the fact that 'Pink Squares' is actually a pretty nice tune. So yeah. The Postal Service on speed. You may wanna cock a shell like here

Pink Squares’ is one of my Top 10 singles of 2006” - Steve Lamacq, Radio 1. Superb drum-orientated disco indie - Rocksound.I Was A Cub Scout make pummeling punk rock pop disco. It’s part Minus The Bear, part ‘Digital Ash’-era Conor Oberst, but most importantly they are a fresh take on star gazing, dreamy, indie electronica. Fresh out of Nottingham, I Was A Cub Scout are two 17-year old hardcore souls - William Bowerman and Todd Marriott - who have spent the last 6 months putting on their own gigs at club nights and house parties up and down the country. They are set to go on an extended scout hut tour in November.
