Lost Penguin - Pleasurewood Kills/ I Believe I Can Fly

Pleasurewood Kills/ I Believe I Can Fly by Lost Penguin

4...according to our on Fri 24 Nov, 2006.

Now here's a bit off rough. It's by LOST PENGUIN called Pleasure wood kills. Its a young three piece writing electro punk music with male/female shouty (in a Mark.e.Smith the Fall  way) vocals. Its all about going out to play then taking LSD or something. Out on 7" on Fake Product it's a slack drawl with attitude.

Have faith in your inability. Words spoken by Davy Handerson, the little known but oft quoted frontman of seminal Scottish punk band The Fire Engines. A good 6 hour train journey further South, New Cross liabilities Lost Penguin may not know of their endeavoring prophets existence, but they have unwittingly taken his advice to heart. Lost Penguin have cleared dancefloors in less than half of their 9 song repertoire. Charleigh Blue, fondly recalling Poly Styrene if she had found hair extensions glued to her head and an ASBO for nutting a cop (shes from Glasgee yeh see) fronts the group also consisting of Kev Bassett (vox/keys/machines) and Matt (bass) that take their scattered beats and ice cream van samples to the bridge and mooring safely on the other side in the key of fuck shit fuck. While the band tend to happily annoy the hell out of the more hard nosed critics they can still namedrop fans to their hearts content (Klaxons, Crystal Castles, Rob Da Bank) and their last single Mr Whippy sold out in less than a month. This earth shattering little trio are leading audiences in a merry dance and inspiring cult (all meanings apply) followings and caved in dance floors wherever they go. Kids with weak hearts and diarrhea should stay home. Pleasurewood Kills is a mini (1.5mins to be precise) masterpiece of rollercoaster beats, distorted vox and a threatening bassline. Like going on the waltzers seven times in a row without suffering a prolapse. Whilst the b-side I believe I can fly sheds a new light on Lost Penguin and reveals their true punk and riot grrrl influences as they throw away the drum machine and bring in The Violets percussionist Andrew Moran.
