Julian Fane - The Moon Is Gone/Rattle

The Moon Is Gone/Rattle by Julian Fane

JULIAN FANE also makes a welcome return to the camp with his Sigur Ros / Radiohead Hybrid sound 'The Moon Is Gone' is sweet enough, heartfelt dreamy electronic music but it somehow fails to evoke an emotional response from. That is until it kicks in and the sound becomes more dense and rich with the emotive synths. The B-side 'Rattle' also has lashings of smart cinematic electronics and cruchie beats.I reckon the inclusion of the vocal will give this a wider appeal. If you liked Thom Yorke's 'Eraser' album then this is worthy of investigation. Even though It's a 7" don't get confused and play it on 45rpm and think it's a load of breakcore nonsense with retarded chipmunks on angel dust.

Julians first release since 2004s Special Forces album sees him in fine voice, The Moon Is Gone being probably his finest composition to date. B-side Rattle is a doomy electronic riff-based track with Julians plaintive vocals soaring over it.
