Now a 7" from BIG TOE with Direct Sales. It's a wierd one with breathy female vocals singing over some haunting metalic drones and lightly picked guitar leading the way. B side is similar with male vocals. Quite an unusual debut single with enough space to fill a balloon. Phil's thinking about our favourites Tunng and there is a similarity with its general softness and warmth but without the immediacy. Out on Bathysphere recordingsBig Toe inhabit the sweetest of spaces between twisted folk and experimental electronica. A little like Ray Davis meets Stockhausen whilst Stephen King makes the drinks. They are clearly not making music to pass the time on their way to a life of corporate sponsored rehab and celebrity dating. They are making songs to comfort the modern borderline personality, the kind of music grown men will weep to as they remember how the big boys let down their tires and stole their dinner money…
