The Kphanapic Fragments by Team Doyobi

Since TEAM DOYOBI dropped the 'Wheels Of Anterion' teaser 7" what seems like ages ago I've been waiting with anticipation for the album release which has constantly been delayed. Well it's finally here and is completely worth the wait. I tend to find a lot of recent electronic music is just too clever for the sake of it. Not the case however with the dynamic duo of Alex Peverett and Chris Gladwin. 'The Kpanapic Fragments' is complex, in fact incredibly so but they don't lose track of their vision in an attempt to confuse the listener. The beats on here are solid, the melodies completely alien, the sounds highly original and relentlessly inventive. Imagine eating a kilo of psychoactive space mushrooms then wondering into a pixellated tropical rainforest on another planet then tripping out to the sounds of digital monkeys and you're getting close to 'Dawn Of The Apes'. At times this seem like their most accessible work to date and then it just goes crackers. Great to see Skam back on top form with what these ears consider to be somewhat of a futuristic masterpiece. Freakin' ace digi-pak CD with wicked artwork.
