What we say
This record left our Ant feeling ecstatic.
The GESCOM Mini Disc that was kicking about a few years back has had a timely issue on CD courtesy of the
Touch Imprint. Apparently this was the first ever Mini Disc only release. I do love a bit of
Gescom being somewhat of an Autechre head (and Gescom
Being Sean Booth and Rob
Brown though I'm unsure as to whether Rob Hall was involved with this
one.) This is really far out sound design, extremely abstract
experimental machine music that sounds
completely cold, sterile and synthetic. Don't expect any head nodding
crunching techno rhythms here as this is aimed straight at the head and
not the feet. There are 22 tracks in all which are presented like a
kind of sample library for producers to use and remix which I think was
the original intention of the disc. There are some really fantastic
sounds on here although I'm not sure how cohesive it is as an album.
You can bang it on shuffle though and have a different listening
experience everytime. I'm dying t know when these guys are going to put
something new out...
