Me being a veggie I have a love affair with the humble aubergine so I'm not entirely sure I agree with the personification of my beloved vegetable for the name of a band. That band is MAN AUBERGINE and currently playing is their single 'Bastard Brother. Its a curious little single with its off kilter honky tonk guitar and off the wall lyrics. The flip has a banjo strumming all over the place and talks about being in love with a twin sister. You can listen for yourself on the bands myspace page. 7" on Run Of The Mill Records.London prog-grass trio Man Aubergine take an old-time bluegrass influence to create a new-time riff and pop party. They formed in winter 2006 and quickly established their unique melodious sound. Will Saunders’ catchy if not slightly perverted songs and guitar riffage being accompanied by Richard Gledhill’s infectious bass lilts. The uniquely talented Steve Blake, a regular face on London’s American Old-Time music scene came in to drive the sound forward with his flowing drums and occasional banjo stints. The bands bluegrass tinged harmony singing is the cherry on the cake. A listen to this, their debut single, will leave even the dullest of folk punching the air and wailing along.
