Right then. The long awaited SHADY BARD clear vinyl 7" has arrived on Static Caravan. A delicious crisp apple of a record. All emotional like a crest fallen Divine Comedy. The rise and fall of a broken spirit led by the tortured vocals which drives the music to a climatic wall of distored guitar and grinding violins. The guys are argueing about whether it sounds Radiohead or Bierut and those are 2 great bands to lean on. B side is a bit slower but still moody. Good pop up of some arctic animals included too! (it's brilliant!! Phil x)The band's previous release for the Caravan was the now-only-available-on-e-bay 'Treeology' ep. Such was the word on this that plays on radio have steadily built, including sessions for Janice Long's Radio 2 show and the Radio 4 legend that is Loose Ends. This from a 100-only release. Recent plays for Penguins, including Phill Jupitus BBC 6 Music breakfast show, have continued to stoke the A+R fire. We could go on. Album readied for a January release, tours booked including shows with their mates iLiKETRAiNS (who directed the video for Penguins), but there is not much point as the single is ltd to 500 copies on clear wax with nice insert, and has already sold out on pre-sale.
