Sophia - Technology Won't Save Us

Technology Won\'t Save Us by Sophia

4...according to our on Tue 14 Nov, 2006.

This SOPHIA album on City Slang/ Flower Shop is also a bit useful. Technology Won't Save Us (a truth if I ever heard one...) is on ltd 2CD (3000) and limited LP (less than that but can't remember how many). This is the review with loads of (brackets) in! Themed reviews (remember them?). Mr Proper Sheppard (also in God Machine and May Queens) has rather an enormous following and this new album will appease and increase his fanbase I think.  The music on this varies from lush instrumentals, nice acousticky guitar things to more balls out serious guitar pop (that's what I'd call it as there's melody all over the shop). Lost (track 7) is an incredible tine and the chorus really sounds like Frank Black. Excellent stuff (which was a serious contender for album of the week.....)

From lushly orchestrated instrumentals to pure pop-rock-noise and a dark lyrical depth rarely found in today’s music, Sophia’s fourth studio album ‘Technology Won’t Save Us’ is being hailed as Robin Proper-Sheppard’s (former singer/guitarist with seminal 90’s guitar band The God Machine) most ambitious record to date. Initial response from media within both the UK and Europe has been VERY good and we expect the positive reviews to follow suit. Very comprehensive national press/radio campaign with reviews confirmed with Mojo, Uncut, Word and historically strong support from XFM and Radio 2. ½ page ad to run in Mojo. Full-page ad in new monthly magazine Play Music (circ. 60,000). The last Sophia album ‘People Are Like Seasons’ released via City Slang/Labels achieved over-counter UK sales of 3,500. Initial limited-edition release will be a Double-CD DigiPak including a 6 song bonus acoustic CD
