New Rhodes - The History Of Britain

The History Of Britain by New Rhodes

After being completely horrified by the dreadful Boyfriends actually putting out an album to follow their tedious singles, a band that do that anthemic post Smiths thing a whole bunch better have returned. NEW RHODES have a song called 'The History of Britain' that marries the singalong euphoria of prime James with the downheel indie harmonies of The Bluetones. His voice is quite a thing. Both mundane & powerful (a tricky feat i can tell you) this, like all their songs, is an irresistible grower. I hated it at first & now I can't escape it's mid 90's rooted jangly guitar genius. The singer looks as punchable as that Keane guy I must profess, however. 7"/CDs
