Sun Kil Moon
Tiny Cities
A Norman Records recommendation (27th November 2006)

This record left our Clint feeling ecstatic.
Album of the week for me and one I just can't stop listening to is 'Tiny Cities' by Sun Kill Moon (aka Mark Kozelek from Red House Painters). A lovely plaintive autumnal album full of sad sad songs. You would be forgiven for thinking Kozelek's songwriting is back to his early Red House Painters best until you read the small print. This is an album of Modest Mouse songs. Well you could have knocked me down with a feather. Kozelek has a history of making any old shit sound good and giving it his own spin (remember the Yes cover?)so as with his AC/DC album it mostly sounds like Kozelek originals. An essential purchase in fact. I like this so much that I even thought about reaching for those Modest Mouse albums gathering dust at home.......there again I wouldn't want to spoil it. On Rough Trade.
