Just in is a CD on Fat Cat by ENSEMBLE. I wasn't convinced at first but I've come to the conclusion that it's rather good. Brian said it was a bit coffee table like but I reckon there's enough going on it to make it interesting. It features oodles of famous people like that Chan (scratcher) Marshall from Cat Power, Lou 'Porn' Barlow (Sebadoh), Adam 'the octopus' Pearce (Mice Parade, Mum etc). Musically it's all over the place. The first track is all shoegazey with crazy drums... made me think of MBV, Slowdive and Stereolab. The whole album is all over the shop. I could name check hundreds of different bands. The tracks with don't feature Adam Pearce on drums sound very indietronica and that's ultimately the general feel of the album. Overall I'd say it's very classical, highbrow and possibly a bit coffee table at times (I admit) but it's still an enjoyable thing.Be the first to review this record.
