I've just been given the debut single from THE ACUTES, a 7" on Bad Sneakers called 'When I Left Work Today'. These guys have been on my list of people to see for some time, being a local act and with great interest I place the vinyl on the turn table. Its a rip roaring, exciting, nasal snowball of a song. "a great tune" says Brian. "a one man band on Briggate" says Ant. It's a bit like They Might be Be Giants spliced with The Boggs with a dash of Violent Femmes. And it's just been played for the 3RD TIME! High praise indeed for such a pressure cooker of an office where time is our mistress. Well we are all black and blue from this as punishment for repeated listens and I'm finishing this review standing up partly because of my tanned ass and partly because I'm dying for a piss.Be the first to review this record.
