Koutaro Fukui - O-Dexio

O-Dexio by Koutaro Fukui

koutaro fukui, a japanese sound artist, is now widely known for his marvelous harmony and sound architecture through various releases from all over the world. but for a short period of time right after the breakup of the legendary unit "unisphre" with takeshi mitsuhashi in 2000, he went far into musical experiments that challenged sound and time structure. he was much exposed to the chicago noise avant-garde scene and explored the possibilities of free improvisation, live electronics, modern dance, and contemporary visual art. among two movie soundtracks, two modern dance accompaniments and countless live performances with many musicians and visual artists, he left two cd-rs worth of music compositions by 2003 that are considerably more experimental than before. This collection of music "three sights in chicago, 2003" is a compilation from those two cds that has more qualities that lead to today's fukui's music. even though the harmony and individual sound materials definitely remind of what he would do today, the use of them in vertical sound structure and time structure is rather spontaneous and the influences from free improv and such are still raw. O-dexio was created during 2003 ~ 2004 in Chicago and Nagoya Japan. Field recording, Guitar, Accordion, Alto Sax, Computer, Piano are used.
