Shimura Curves/ Tim Ten Yen - Split

Split by Shimura Curves/ Tim Ten Yen

4...according to our on Wed 15 Nov, 2006.

7" on Brainlove, seemingly a split between SHIMURA CURVES & TIM TEN YEN, Shimura are a bunch of ladies intent on making moving, minimal 80's flecked pop with a drum machine, xylophone & cheap analogue synths. The lovely choral vocal harmonies from the girls suit the charming, dramatic & melancholic nature of the tune. It really does seem like a simple ray of hope in a world populated by excruciatingly shit no-hoper bands hell bent on Zane Lowe endorsement & NME glory. Who the hell are Dead Disco anyway? Buy this record instead (it's R-E-A-L). Tim Ten Yen has a great grasp of melody & applies this to his hugely untrendy & rather twee pop genius. The reason I'm convinced this 7" is great is because I can feel the genuine energy & love put into these songs. The instrumentation is so unfashionable it nearly makes you giggle but then you realise these lovely people care so much about what they're doing it makes the cockles of yr heart glow. Numbered of 500, give this cute puppy a home.
