What we say

Rating: happy This record left our Phil feeling happy.

And moving swiftly on to JAMES YORKSTON. I've never really spent much time with ole Yorkie. Most likely because we always gave him to Clint to review and this is the 1st thing that's come in since Clint left the Towers. So I'm listening to his new single (Steady As She Goes) quite intently and I'm actually enjoying it. I wonder what other treats I've missed by him? It's a nice folky nautical chirpy sounding affair. Remarkably enough it's quite a lot like early Belle & Sebastian. One day I'll drop the enormous bombshell on you all that I actually like B & S. Today is not that day cos I don't really (yet) but I fear that day will soon come. This is really lovely anyway and I'm utterly warmed by it's ample charm.

About the humble 7":

The humble 7" is the smallest of the vinyl formats (not including the ridiculous 5") and it's the perfect medium for transporting a couple of new songs by up and coming bands straight into your ears. They're fun and they take up less space in your house than something bigger would. They come in a plethora of exciting colours and fantastical packages, and you can fit about 14 minutes onto one 7". You may have to get up every few minutes to put a new record on but think of the exercise. Don't forget every record you buy plays at least 2 speeds (depending on your stereo) and you need to play all records on all speeds to get the maximum joy from your purchase.

They even checked their logs to see if they could find a trace of it but nothing came out...
