Struggling with recent ROGERS SISTERS singles as they seem to have lost their spiky, intense edge. 'Why Won't You' is a winding, bluesy shout-a-longa anthem that's surprisingly like a cross between The Zutons & JSBX but ends up sounding more like The Datsuns. An unpleasant surprise for me, myself & I, I must profess. Not to say it's not without its merits. The CD single makes a nice coaster for my cuppa. Think I'll just go & hide inside my copy of 'Purely Evil' for comfort & re-assurance. I'm kinda glad when bands dissapear out of my orbit as it makes room for more new exiting treasures that loom round every corner. However, the excellent remix of 'Sooner or Later' on the CD single is, thankfully, a different bag of spanners entirely, coming on like B-52s utterly butchered by Meat Beat Manifesto with it's skanking, hypnotic dubby vibe. 100 times better than the awful a side!Be the first to review this record.
