What we say

Rating: ecstatic This record left our Brian feeling ecstatic.

Long ago Phil once played me this amazing organ led instrumental tune called 'Film Music' by four Brighton belles called ELECTRELANE & I was so taken by it I think I fell into a big dribbling swoon with a tear leaking from my eye. That was their first single & like all bands, they slightly ruined it by re-recording it for their mighty debut album 'Rock it to the moon' I forgave them though as I had the Indenial 7", a formidable debut single to gaze upon. Now Too Pure have collected this scarce slice of circus krautrock along with it's b-side 'Come On', it's successor, the Fierce Panda endorsed 'Le Song', the 'I Want to be the President' EP & all those hard to track B-sides, compilation tracks, live cuts & a peel session highlight to form this self explanatory compilation CD. I saw them live at the Carling festival years ago & will never forget the metronomic haze they had me trapped in like some kind of hypnotic spell. Great stuff indeed. Mid price & worth it.

About the humble CD:

The CD is essentially a small portable face mirror which has an extra feature of being able to play music (through a thing known as a CD player). These CD's are a modern invention hence them being all shiny and digital. They can hold about 80 minutes of music and apparently are indestructible as you can smear jam on them and they still play (not as nourishing as toast mind you but when you're hungry.....). They sound crystal clear and are tiny convenient things. They lack the charm and warmth of their old analogue counterparts but their portability, convenience and ease of being duplicated make them a perfect thing of a thing for most folks. Jewel cases are the worst thing ever though and they really need to stop.
