What we say This record left our Phil feeling sad. THE SUNSHINE UNDERGROUND have a new single out called Put You In Your Place. Has this been out before? I kind of lose track of these singles sometimes..... I'll be brief cos Brian is cussing and screaming obscenities... Musically it sounds like a cod white boy funk take on Hard Fi, Bloc Party and Kasabian but it rather unfortunately ends up sounding a bit like The Blow Monkeys. I absolutely don't like this one little bit but if I was forced to listen to local radio for months on end it might eventually start to sound good. But so would the screaming death chants of children. There's more chance of me eating myself (starting from the toes) than putting myself through that tortuous scenario. Local boys they may be but this is still evil and overly arduous....

About the humble 7":

The humble 7" is the smallest of the vinyl formats (not including the ridiculous 5") and it's the perfect medium for transporting a couple of new songs by up and coming bands straight into your ears. They're fun and they take up less space in your house than something bigger would. They come in a plethora of exciting colours and fantastical packages, and you can fit about 14 minutes onto one 7". You may have to get up every few minutes to put a new record on but think of the exercise. Don't forget every record you buy plays at least 2 speeds (depending on your stereo) and you need to play all records on all speeds to get the maximum joy from your purchase.
