Genghis Tron - Dead Mountain Mouth

Dead Mountain Mouth by Genghis Tron

4...according to our on Thu 16 Nov, 2006.

We've just been having a discussion on the best band names ever. GENGHIS TRON is right up there but Brian reckons Dumpy's Rusty Nuts is even better.... Ant reckons Anal Beard.....Am not sure but a special mention to Yorkshire Bone has to be made as that kept me sniggering to myself for an entire 40 minute bus journey. Anyway Genghis Tron have a new LP out called Dead Mountain Mouth. Its a weird mix of thrash metal, 70s prog, tiny bits of hip hop and amateur dramatics but one that immediately brought smile to my face cos I love the fact people make music like this. In fact its piss funny..... Last time we gave something of theirs a decent review the label (Lovepump) sent us a load of badges with cocks on. How ace is that? They didn't last that long so more please... (if you're reading). If you've heard An Albatross (and like them!) then you'll more than likely get a kick out of these. Most entertaining!

· Originally released in 2006, ‘Dead Mountain Mouth’ is
a ferocious and unnervingly innovative record - a
relentless cacophony of the huge metal riffs and ambient
electronics that have earned Genghis Tron worldwide
acclaim.
· Upon its release, ‘Dead Mountain Mouth’ was named one
of the top records of 2006 by Decibel, Exclaim, and
Rock Sound. It’s a landmark record for the band who
have since gone on to sign to Relapse Records and
tour with a diverse array of acts, including Dillinger
Escape Plan, The Faint, Baroness and Converge.
· What the critics are saying: “[Genghis Tron’s] music is a
record shop in a blender, and the juxtapositions are
giddy, energetic, and smart” - The New York Times;
“Fluid, urgent and unpredictable, this is the sound of a
band who are about ten steps ahead of everyone else
right now... 5/5” - Kerrang; “These guys pack more in a
minute than almost anyone else out there. Pyrotechnic
blastbeats vanish before you know it, making way for
electronic breaks and blessed synth passages as
compelling as they are familiar” - Philadelphia Weekly.
