XIU XIU are a strange bunch indeed. I'm not gonna bang on about the name. I did that last time I expect it was tedious then. Musically it's utterly bizarre as you'd probably expect. There's a cover (of sorts) of Don't You Wish Your Girlfriend Was Hot Like Me from The Pussycat Dolls which sounds like Einsturzende Neubauten cracked up battering shopping trolleys outside Morrissons. In fact the whole EP is covers featuring Kangaroo by This Mortal Coil, and tracks by Nina Simone, Nadelle and Bauhaus. The word avant garde was created for this band. Honestly it's pretty interesting.... at times it's quite and heartfelt and at other times you're wondering what kind of mind makes music like this....The 'Tu Mi Piaci' EP is CD only and one of the most interesting covers EP's I've ever heard.Be the first to review this record.
